Lavastar was appointed by creative agency The Ninety Niners to deliver the signage element of Big Motoring World’s nationwide RAC partnership rollout. The brief involved surveying each dealership (Leeds, Cannock, Enfield, Norwich & Camberley, Sheffield, Peterborough, Wimbledon, Blue Bell Hill) to identify high-impact branding opportunities and recommending signage solutions that would maximise visibility to passing traffic whilst creating a consistent customer experience throughout every stage of the onsite journey.

Big Motoring World Signage Rebrand

The Challenges Lavastar overcome to deliver this multi site signage rebrand across the UK
Sites being spread across the country
Lavastar developed an efficient survey programme, strategically routing visits across the country to maximise productivity. Survey findings, photography and artwork templates were returned to the client immediately after each visit, allowing design decisions to begin whilst the remaining dealerships were still being surveyed.
Capturing and presentation of so many different opportunities…
The majority of Big Motoring World sites are vast with quite literally hundreds of opportunities for new signage. Every surveyed location was accompanied by detailed site plans, annotated photography and numbered signage references, allowing our clients to instantly identify every proposed location. This structured approach enabled their team to efficiently review options, prioritise investment and progress artwork approvals without ambiguity.
Time Restraints
Rather than waiting until every dealership had been surveyed, Lavastar adopted a phased delivery approach. Surveys, client proposals, artwork preparation, manufacture and installation planning all progressed simultaneously. As each survey was completed, proposals were issued almost immediately for review. Once approved, artwork templates were prepared, content applied and manufacture commenced without delay, ensuring production was already well underway by the time the final dealership survey had been completed.
Working around live retail environments
Surveys and installations were carefully planned around busy dealership operations to minimise disruption to customers and staff whilst maintaining safe working practices throughout. Items in busier areas were installed before stores opened, and items in the heart of customer areas were cordoned off with barriers and warning signage.
