Printed Building Wrap Takes Centre Stage On The Island Of Jersey

Earlier this year, Lavastar completed the installation of a mesh PVC printed building wrap in Jersey to encapsulate an existing scaffolding structure at a sea-facing site on the island. This was our first project in Jersey, and it was very well received by the local community.

Lavastar was initially instructed to travel to the island to carry out a site survey of the scaffolding. This visit allowed us not only to prepare an accurate quotation but also to identify any issues that needed addressing with the main scaffolding contractor before returning to commence installation. The existing scaffolding had been installed by a local Jersey contractor, and our team recommended a series of adaptations to ensure the maximum longevity of the PVC banner and to enhance the overall finish of the vinyl wrap.

Our Recommendations for the Best Printed Building Wrap Results

✅ Ensure all scaffolding tubes are cut flush to prevent the banner from blowing against sharp edges and becoming perforated.
✅ Ensure all scaffolding boards are cut flush for a smooth and seamless surface.
✅ Incorporate a subframe to achieve a tight, “drum-skin” finish that hides all scaffolding fixings and tubes.

Given the coastal and exposed location of the site, the main scaffolding contractor had to ensure that their scaffolding calculations accounted for the additional wind loads created by the printed wrap. In situations where scaffolding wraps are exposed to extreme weather conditions, we always recommend using mesh PVC to help reduce wind loads. This is the approach our client ultimately chose to move forward with.

The project was completed in four weeks.

Lavastar Delivered:

✅ Comprehensive site survey
✅ Full logistics and transport coordination
✅ Design and structural calculations for the subframe
✅ Artwork preparation and assistance
✅ Installation of subframe to scaffolding
✅ Installation of printed scaffolding banners

To our knowledge, this was the first-ever building wrap installation on the island of Jersey. Since completing the project, we have already received a number of new enquiries from neighbouring Guernsey, reflecting the success and visibility of our work.
