Installing a printed vinyl brickwrap graphic to the exterior of facade in London

Exterior Wall Graphics

Exterior wall and facade graphics are a powerful way to capture attention by transforming spaces people wouldn’t usually expect to see signage. Traditional shopfront window graphics are so common now that it often takes something bold and unexpected to really engage passers-by. At Lavastar, we’ve been delivering standout facade branding solutions for many years, supporting businesses across the UK with creative installations.

Choosing the Right Products for Outdoor Wall Graphics

Selecting the right product is key to ensuring your graphics remain vibrant and durable. Weather conditions — from hot summers to wet or windy winters — can all impact the lifespan of an installation. It’s also essential to match the material to the surface you’re working with. Below, we’ve outlined some of the most effective solutions, each designed for different applications.

Exterior Vinyl Brick Wall Wraps

Brick wraps are one of our most popular options when a medium-term solution is needed. For example, Mactac WW100 allows graphics to adhere securely to textured brickwork and can be removed without damaging the surface. Applied using heat to mould into the texture, this vinyl can keep your facade looking sharp for years.
The main limitation is installation conditions: if the wall is damp or the temperature is below 6°C, the product should not be applied.

Outdoor Tensioned Banner Systems

When you need to cover a large facade, a tensioned banner system offers a sleek, professional finish. Once the aluminium tracking is installed, graphics can be swapped out quickly and cost-effectively — making this ideal for businesses that need to update their message frequently. One of our retail clients in Spain, for example, used this system not only to cover weathered render but also to dramatically enhance their storefront presence.

Glass Vinyl Graphics

Modern buildings often feature expansive glass facades, and there are specific considerations when applying vinyl externally. The first step is to confirm that the glass specification allows for vinyl application, as in some cases it may increase heat absorption and risk cracking.

For installations where visibility is not an issue, solid printed vinyl with a protective laminate is a popular choice. If maintaining outward visibility is important, we recommend Contra Vision one-way perforated vinyl, which allows light and views from inside while still presenting a strong visual impact from the outside.

PVC Printed Banners on Subframes

For facades with obstructions that prevent a flush installation, PVC printed banners stretched over a bespoke subframe can provide an effective solution. This method is well-suited to large-scale graphics and offers flexibility for updating campaigns throughout the year. Typically, you can expect a lifespan of three to five years before the banner needs replacing.
